Alternative Name: LDH-C4, Lactate dehydrogenase C
Description: Sperm lacking lactate dehydrogenase C (LDH-C) are non-functional. Evidence suggests that impairment of sperm function involves protein-protein interactions (PPI) between LDH-C and other sperm specific proteins, particularly Ant4 (ATP/ADP translocase). Disruption of the PPI between these two molecules will perturb sperm function and achieve a reversible inhibition of fertility and a level of specificity to obviate potential adverse effects of usage.
