Testing was done in rats. As in birds, the rat ovaries collected 4,4A-dinitrocarbanilide (DNC), the bioactive moiety in nicarbazin. However, contraceptive effectiveness in mammals could not be confirmed. Innolytics is not currently pursuing further work on OvoControl as a contraceptive in humans.
