Developed by PATH as the Woman's Condom; it is manufactured by Shanghai Dahua Medical Apparatus Company and sold as O'Lavie.
Dahua has received approvals to market the product in China, Europe (CE Mark), and South Africa. In February 2016, it received WHO/UNFPA Prequalification.
Designed to be easier to insert than other female condoms; clinical trials show women find O'Lavie considerably easier to handle and insert than FC1. Clinicial trials show lower failure rate of O'Lavie compared to FC1 (17% clinical failure rate compared to 24% for FC1).
